Climatempo, GIZ and EPE come together to create a platform with the largest database on the interference of climate in the generation of solar and wind energy in Brazil

The creation of a platform aimed at sharing the database on the influence of climate on the solar and wind energy sector in Brazil will be essential for attracting new investments within the segment in the country.

Climatempo's Research, Development and Innovation laboratory announced a partnership with Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and EPE (Energy Research Company) during this last Monday, (02/05). In this way, companies will be responsible for creating a platform with a database on the influence of climate on the production of energy solar and wind power in Brazil.

In a triple partnership aimed at the energy sector in Brazil, the companies Climatempo, GIZ and EPE announced their newest project, a platform that will have a database on the influence of climate on the production of solar and wind energy in the country. Thus, any entrepreneur will be able to have access to this information for the development of new projects aimed at the sector within the national territory over the next few years. 

The main objective of the companies' project is the development and availability of a digital platform where a climate database will be available. In this way, the main information about the climate and the variables that impact solar and wind production will be present in the database. Furthermore, the platform brings a set of products and tools aimed at generating information that contributes to a more efficient investment planning for the sector for the people who want to develop projects in the country. 

Thus, Climatempo commented in a note that “All available data will be validated through statistical techniques and available observational data, so that the final product is extremely calibrated and reliable for planning these markets”. In addition, the company stated that the data collected will be from 40 years of the sector in the country: “This reference will bring a set of products for these segments with data based on observations, multi-models with methods and technical-scientific criteria aimed at the production of raw materials that contribute to an efficient allocation of public and private investments in the energy sector”.

The company Climatempo emerged in the 1980s and is a Brazilian company that offers Meteorology services, headquartered in the capital of the state of São Paulo, with a large portfolio throughout the country. GIZ is a German company founded in 1975 and specializes in technical cooperation and sustainable development projects on a global scale. Finally, EPE's main objective is to provide services in the area of studies and research aimed at subsidizing the planning of the energy sector, covering electricity, oil and natural gas and their derivatives.

In this way, the companies are great references within the solar and wind energy generation segment and are now looking to expand this sector in Brazil. For this, the development of the platform with the database on the influence of climate on energy production in Brazil is the main strategy adopted by the parties to the project. Thus, it will be possible to make the country's conditions for the production of this resource much clearer and, with that, bring new perspectives to the segment. 

The platform should become a reference for the wind and solar sector, so that any institution can make use of it, thus bringing an essential initiative for the sector and highly accessible to entrepreneurs.
