With around 370 kWp, Santa Catarina's new solar power plant will bring sustainability benefits to the IFSC Campus

On April 26, next Tuesday, the Federal Institute of Santa Catarina (IFSC) will inaugurate the installation of a solar energy plant in the city of Florianópolis, located in Santa Catarina. From the opening, the southern city will have a photovoltaic system that has more than a thousand solar capture panels.

According to a statement by the Federal Institute of Santa Catarina, the investment for innovation in renewable energy, more specifically solar energy, is an initiative that has become increasingly popular around the world, as it brings several benefits to the environment and economy for families, companies and institutions.

According to an article by Sofia Pontes written for Canal Solar, the launch of the new solar power plant in Santa Catarina will take place during the 4th International Mobility Congress (Mobisul), whose theme this year will be “The challenges and opportunities of mobility sustainable”, since it is a very present issue in current debates and attracts attention from the media and investors.

About the project and expectations of the new plant

The appliances and equipment needed for the new solar power plant are already installed on the roofs of the Coqueiros campus and the Rectory of the Federal Institute of Santa Catarina. In addition, they work with approximately 370 kilowatt peak (kWp), which promises to deliver a generation of solar energy capable of supplying the consumption of most buildings. According to the Institute, it is expected that, with the operation of the plant, the energy bill of the Rectory falls by half, while that of the campus decreases by up to 80%.

Rubipiara Cavalcante Fernandes, professor in charge and technical inspector for the project for the new solar energy plant in Santa Catarina, states: “The net metering system will generate energy credit and can be used later for what will be consumed at night, which will come from the network".

Voltalia commissions its largest solar energy project with the Serra do Mel I and Serra do Mel II plants, located in Rio Grande do Norte

The energy company Voltalia announced last Tuesday (19/04) the commissioning of its largest solar energy project in all of Brazil. Thus, the Serra do Mel I and Serra do Mel II plants will be integrated and will become the company's largest enterprise with a focus on expanding installed capacity within the state of Rio Grande do Norte.

Voltalia is a company in the energy sector that focuses on production and new solutions for the renewable energy sector in Brazil and has now announced the commissioning of its largest solar energy project in the country. Thus, with the merger of the Serra do Mel I and Serra do Mel II plants, located in the Serra Branca Complex, in Rio Grande do Norte, the company will hold a gigantic enterprise within the segment in the state of Rio Grande do Norte.
The commissioning of the plants will provide the technical, operational and productive integration of the solar energy complexes and, at the end of the Voltalia project, the venture will have an installed capacity of 320 MW, which is enough to supply a city with up to 400,000 homes. Thus, this will be the largest of the company's ventures in the field of solar energy generation throughout Brazil and, therefore, will receive an extra focus from Voltalia so that the process takes place in the best possible way.
