With this surprising news, Petrobras has just shaken the offshore sector. More drilling and completion activities mean more jobs!

[supsystic-social-sharing id='1′]Petrobras has opened a tender for yet another type of service, the “smart completion”, which will include 35 wells in the Libra asset and other pre-salt ventures in the Santos Basin.

It is using new methods to intelligently fill its pre-salt wells, hence this sudden bidding that took all the companies by surprise that are now starting to mobilize. The proposal is to make the current technology of this activity compatible in open well environments, above 8 ½”. Nowadays this is done with 12 ½”, which causes a lot of fluid waste in the formations. With smart completion, this problem should be fixed once and for all.

Operations in these wells will take place from 2019 and the initial price of the bidding costs around US$50 million, with a duration of 2 years and 6 months, which can be renewed as the work takes longer than necessary. So far, the monsters that are shaking their eyes and hands for this contract are the companies Baker Hughes (BHGE), Halliburton, Superior Energy and Weatherford, which are the main ones in this modality, but nothing prevents other players from arriving, in the end the possibilities are quite comprehensive. And more contracts and bids to come, because we really need it.

Not sure if you got to see more I'll post again. An article that even appeared in Jornal Nacional saying that 20 platforms are about to arrive in Brazil from 2018. In the video below, you can watch the report that was also made on board the Modec Ship and its crew, it is worth checking out.
