Oil workers strike Petrobras

The FUP maintains stoppages of oil and gas activities at Petrobras units, even under a fine of 500 thousand reais per day if they insist on a strike. Know which services will be affected

The national strike of oil workers began today at 0:00 on this Wednesday, with an expected date to end on June 2, even so, it can go on for much longer, if the category deems it necessary. The oil workers have as axes of this mobilization the demands for reduction of fuel and cooking gas prices, maintenance of jobs and resumption of domestic production of fuels, end of imports of gasoline and other petroleum derivatives, end of privatization and dismantling of the Petrobras, and resignation of Pedro Parente from the Presidency of Petrobras.

Superior Labor Court denied the right to strike

The TST (Superior Labor Court) did not recognize the legitimacy of the national strike of oil workers and ordered all entities of the category, not to proceed with the act, under penalty of 500 thousand reais per day if the measure was not complied with, the FUP and its affiliates naturally keep the act. Minister Maria de Assis Calsing, who brought the action for AGU and Petrobras, said that the demonstrations of the category are of a political nature and have nothing to do with defending workers' rights, but rather taking a ride on the truck drivers' strike, causing even more damage to the fragile moment of the Brazilian economy, since without the production of oil in this period, it represents losses of millions per day to the state company.

Activities that will be interrupted

According to the general schedule of Oil Tankers (which may vary according to the unit), operations and offshore/onshore/administrative activities must be stopped immediately. Here are some procedures:

  1. Offshore – The production must be delivered to the contingency teams and if it is not possible to proceed, it must be interrupted with the disembarkation of the teams.
  2. Refineries – The demonstrations will take place inside the units, this measure is valid for both the operational and administrative
  3. Air Support – The teams must only attend to emergency flights or to disembark the striking workers.

According to the category, there will be no significant damage to production and there is no risk of shortages. Two refineries had already anticipated the strike on the 28th, find out which ones they are here.
