The Aripuanã Project, located near the city of Aripuanã, in Mato Grosso, will now have the equipments company Andritz, which announced last Tuesday, (03/05), the partnership with Nexa. Thus, the equipment manufacturing company will supply press filters so that the mining company can take the mineral exploration initiative with sustainability and environmental commitment forward in a more efficient and productive way.

Nexa's sustainable mining project will explore iron, lead and copper without the use of dams to ensure an environmental commitment

The mining company Nexa is increasingly looking to diversify the mineral market in Brazil and attract new perspectives on sustainability. Thus, the company developed the Aripuanã Project, located in Serra do Expedito, 25 km from the city of Aripuanã, in the state of Mato Grosso. This exploration plant will be responsible for the adoption of sustainable practices, such as not using dams and reusing resources, aiming at a new dynamic of mineral exploration in the place.

Among Nexa's goals for mining with sustainability in the project are the goal of reusing 100% of water, the construction of a dry tailings deposit and the focus on generating a legacy for the community in the region. Thus, zinc, iron, lead and copper ores will be explored without the use of dams and with the adoption of all these measures to mitigate the environmental impacts caused in the production chain. And, with the partnership of the Andritz company, Nexa will be able to expand even more the efficiency of mineral production.

The equipment manufacturing company focuses on state-of-the-art technology and will provide state-of-the-art filter presses that allow for the sustainable management of mining tailings and ore beneficiation. The equipment model is the A4F2500CCWDL15, one of Andritz's new bets to reduce the use of dams in the mining of these raw materials. In addition, two equipment of the SE1200MZRD8 model will be delivered for the filtration of lead and copper concentrate and one equipment of the SE1200MZRD8 model.

Nexa develops a new initiative to ensure even more efficiency within the production chain of its sustainable mining project in Mato Grosso

One of the main problems encountered by Nexa and Andritz in the sustainable mining project in the state of Mato Grosso was the availability of equipment. This happens because, for the sustainable production of these ores, the company needs the press filters to operate without interruption, that is, without unexpected stops. Thus, both companies developed an initiative called the in-company store, with the aim of ensuring greater availability of this equipment within the production chain of these ores.

Thus, Andritz's market manager, Eduardo Castro, commented that “With the in-company store in Aripuanã, the customer will have the necessary parts in stock both for preventive maintenance of the equipment and for emergency use”. In addition, the company also stated that the use of Andritz presses will be essential for a new look at this equipment: “With the process of discontinuing the use of dams initiated by large companies in the field, Andritz foresees a very large market for the implementation of this model of filter press, in the long term”.

Andritz is known worldwide for its services aimed at the chemical, environmental, food, mining and minerals industries, and, with the partnership with Nexa, the company's sustainable mining project will be able to reach a new level in the domestic market.
